Increase BEV and HEV Efficiency Through Advanced Multi-Shift Technology

The electric vehicle (EV) market continues to change and develop. The industry is currently at a point where next-generation systems are being developed to improve energy efficiency and extend the range of EVs.  Means Industries, an Amsted Automotive company, has developed multi-speed shifting technology with integrated One-Way-Clutch (OWC) functionality which further optimizes function, efficiency, range and cost in EV drivetrains.

This technology can provide flexible system solutions to achieve smooth shift transitions and simplified shift controls in EVs compared to conventional technology.  The shift system is modular and can be integrated with co-axial and parallel-axis drivetrains. It can be set up for both grounded and fully rotating architectures.  The novel solutions also include new methods of integrating the OWC shift elements for reduced package space and weight.
